If not, I would recommend a System Restore next, if the issue began recently. I want you to bring the computer back to the earliest restore point possible, in an attempt to dodge whatever caused the issue. Here is a document on how to perform a System Restore: System Restore. Does this issue only occur on online videos to be certain, test something using Windows Media Player?
If so, is it only YouTube to be certain, play a video from another site? Do any other devices in your house behave this way when you are streaming music? Specifically, if you have another device in the same physical location of the laptop, will it behave the same way? If this computer to connected to the network via Ethernet, instead of wireless, does the same behavior occur?
If the computer is distanced between 6 and 8 feet from the router, does the same behavior occur? After you try everything, please let me know your results and your feedback. Thanks for posting, and have a great day! I just bought the exact same laptop as listed above and I am having the same problem. I did all your troubleshooting tips except the system restore, because it is a brand new laptop.
Also you linked the directions for windows 7 and not windows 8. I returned the laptop to the store thinking I just got a defective laptop, and got the exact same model same as above and the same thing happens with all audio. I also plugged the laptop into my tv with an HDMI cord and the same cracking sound happened on my tv as well. I also tryed listing with headphones, same issue I uninstalled the sound driver then re installed it fresh from the website, but nothing helped. Please help!!!
I have a limited time to return to the store and would like to keep the laptop if possible. The store website reviews also mentioned issues with the sound and with over people viewing this post I'm guessing several more people are having this issue.
I have the exact same problem with the exact same laptop. I just bought it yesterday and tried the speakers out for the first time today. I did all the suggestions listed, except system restore, as it is literally brand new and the speakers came like this. It happens on every website I watch a video on and no other devices in my house have this problem. It seems to be a problem with this particular model of laptop since others have the same issue.
I just want to know how to fix it. Have you tried the steps provided previously? If so, do they resolve the issue? If not, I would contact HP phone support for hardware assistance. Hello, was there a solution to this issue? Just like steph I bought this laptop this week and having exact same problem and have done the exact same troubleshooting except for the system restore. I had the same problem on my HP Pavillion I'm also running Windows 8. In the search feature I typed in audio. Just follow the instructions.
If you're lucky, that will do the trick. If it does not, you may have to go into your device manager and do a few adjustments. HP is compiling your results. This could take up to 3 minutes, depending on your computer and connection speed.
